Monad, a high-performance and EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain, has confirmed that its long-awaited token airdrop will begin next week. The team announced via X that the claim portal will open on Tuesday, October 14, though key details such as eligibility criteria, allocation, and vesting schedule have yet to be revealed.
The lack of clarity has left the community waiting for specifics on how tokens will be distributed. Despite this, excitement continues to build around the event, which marks a major milestone for the project’s mainnet launch.
Ahead of the official rollout, decentralized perpetual exchange Hyperliquid listed MON-USD perpetual contracts, allowing traders to speculate on MON’s price before distribution. The contracts are currently trading around $0.12, implying a fully diluted valuation of roughly $12 billion, assuming a total supply of 100 billion MON tokens.
While these early valuations remain speculative, Monad’s airdrop announcement highlights the growing trend of Layer-1 networks using token distributions to boost network activity and reward early supporters.
